Discuss Policy in the Forums
If you're able to post, it's because you're a part of a circle of people and your registration has been approved. If this thing takes off in any way, we're going to have to hammer out the rules together.
Until then, I'm going to play dictator and lay down a few rules, just for the sake of keeping things on a track until we decide what the track is going to be:
- Do not post copyrighted material
- Do not post pornography
- If you're going to post nudity, at least make it artistic; I don't want my ISP to shut me down because someone felt the need to share their goodies with the rest of the world
- In essence, don't put anything on here that you wouldn't want a potential employer to see. One goal of this site is that it could serve as a URL that any member could put on a resume.
- Do not troll, meaning:
- No flaming
- No flame-baiting
- No posting of content that is meant to anger
- Do not suck. Many people wish that some sites and forums had this rule, and since this will be a small group, we'll be able to work something out. Here are my suggestions for this:
- Your writing, artwork, photography, and videos don't suck--unoriginality sucks. Just be somewhat original. No clip art (especially your avatar, which must be an original work or something made just for you), no cheezburgers.. you get the idear.
- Don't just post anything and everything on your hard drive; take a look at it and think about why you want to post it here. Of course, it doesn't help in your decision that we haven't decided what "here" is, but we'll get there.
Sorry. That's a lot of don'ts.
- If you are a programmer and need somewhere to test your stuff out before we make it live here, let me know and I'll set something up.
- If you're a designer and want to design a theme, it can be tested here.
- There is a current limit on the size of graphics: 1024 pixels, 2MB max. Let's keep it at that for a while and see if that becomes too constricting.
- I will install a module that will allow for the posting of SWFs and another one for video; when I have the specifics of the file requirements, I will post them here.
- Do keep inline images under 640 pixels wide or it will mess up the page. If the image is larger, make a smaller version and link it to the larger version.
